The range of talents and
viewpoints in this newest volume in the series—covering some 200
authors & illustrators—represents the rich variety and multicultural
nature of children's literature today (complete
list). Included are recent Newbery
Award winner Kate DiCamillo, Pura Belpré winner Julia Alvarez, and
Coretta Scott King Award-winning artist Kadir Nelson. The vibrant
excitement of nonfiction writing for today's young people is
highlighted in profiles of Sibert Award winner Susan Bartoletti and

For 20 authors and artists whose careers include significant new
works and honors since their profile in earlier editions of the
series, all new entries are featured. Readers will enjoy new profiles

Simont and Ed Young; plus authors like
Kate DiCamillo,

others.
In keeping with Eighth

portraits of the authors and jacket art illustrations.
